Fogelstrom of Baudette, MN will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at 1:00 PM at First Congregational Church of Baudette, MN. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 from 5-7 PM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Baudette, MN. Interment will be held at Elm Park Cemetery in Baudette. Ruth Fogelstrom passed away on Friday, August 1, 2014 at the LakeWood Care Center in Baudette, MN at the age of 99. Ruth was born on March 26, 1915 in Litchfield, MN to Albert and Laura Galarneau. At the age of 12, she was adopted into a farm family in Litchfield and graduated from high school there. She lived on the farm until 1939, when she and Ray Fogelstrom were married in 1939. After farming several years with Ray’s parents, they moved to Minneapolis where Ray was employed a large grocery chain. The later moved to Columbia Heights, MN where they operated a small grocery store. In 1943, when Ray served in the military, Ruth and the children lived in Staples, MN until 1945. After farming in Nevada, IA for 12 years, they moved to Baudette, MN to be closer to family. She was a member of the First Congregational Church and enjoyed serving there for many years. She also spent time gardening, watching baseball, knitting, and baking for her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ray; daughters, Donna Gohman and Carol Scharfenkamp; three sisters and a brother.
