Hector Galarneau arrived in Minneapolis when he was 7 years old from Ottawa in 1900 with his parents John and Mary along with his surviving brothers John, Joseph, Albert, Oliver and Richard. Our family is a branch descended from Jacques Galarneau of La Rochelle (1643-1701) arriving in New France around 1653 and Jacqueline Heron of Paris marrying at Quebec in 1665. We are direct descendents from many of the earliest settlers in North America including Helen Desportes the first surviving white child born in New France in 1620 and Marie Olivier Sylvestre - Martin Prevost the first official marriage in 1644 between French and Indian at Quebec.
